Dr. Rachel Tompkins is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed as such in the state of Illinois, and a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. Louis University. She was additionally trained through a two-year program in family and marriage therapy at the Family and Personal Support Centers of Greater St. Louis. Dr. Tompkins is additionally fully trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, a trauma-specific therapeutic technique which resolves reactions to trauma in a brief intervention. She is also familiar with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Dr. Tompkins, with a background working for the St. Louis Juvenile Court for five years and the Missouri Division of Child and Family Services as well as the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for twenty-four years, has long experience working with sexual and physical abuse survivors.
She has specific experience working with children and families affected by Domestic Violence.
